The Navigator: A Medieval Odyssey

I watched this film today to procrastinate. When you think of individuals from the past travelling to the future, you may think it will be a comedy (like Les Visiteurs, which is an awesome film, by and by). However, this black-and-white-and-colour treat is far from it. There is a Frogger-like scene where crossing a 20th Century road is a momentous quest in itself for these medieval villagers desperately seeking a way to save their village from the Black Death, and instead of finding it giggle-worthy, I felt just as nervous as them. The director fantastically managed to capture how alien our modern world is; how furious and loud and terrifying to a newcomer it can be.

I enjoyed it.
